Know Before You Go
A few things worth knowing before you head out, tap through for the essentials.
Pride is a full day on your feet, often in the sun. A little prep goes a long way:
• Comfortable shoes. You'll walk and stand more than you expect.
• Sunscreen and a hat. The march runs through the middle of the day.
• A refillable water bottle. Hydration is the difference between a great day and an early one.
• A portable charger. Between photos and finding your group, your phone won't last.
• Cash. For vendors, food carts, and tips.
• A light layer. June evenings can cool off quickly.
If you've booked our Pride Package, your Parade Ready VIP Kit has a few of these covered:
• Bottled water,
• Mini sunscreen,
• A handheld fan,
• And a bandana, waiting in your room.
The Concorde sits just a few blocks from Fifth Avenue, where the NYC Pride March makes its way downtown. On parade day, walking is almost always faster than the subway, much of Midtown closes to traffic from late morning onward. Expect street closures along and around Fifth Avenue, so allow a little extra time and check the MTA for service changes before you set out.
The march steps off in the mid-twenties on Fifth Avenue and winds south toward Greenwich Village, passing the Stonewall National Monument, the birthplace of the movement and one of the most moving places to watch from. The Midtown stretches closer to the hotel tend to fill up a little later in the day. Wherever you choose, arrive 60–90 minutes early for a front-row view, and know that the closer you get to the Village, the bigger the energy.
• Arrive early, the best viewing spots and shaded areas go fast.
• Bags are often checked at festival entrances; travel light and leave larger bags at the hotel.
• The celebration runs all day and well into the night, so pace yourself.
• Pick a meeting point with your group in case phones die or signal drops.
• Look out for one another, it's a joyful crowd, but a big one.
• Our front desk is here around the clock; call or stop by anytime for directions, recommendations, or a hand with anything you need.
